Strive to give back to society, NGOs urged
KUCHING: Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian has called upon all organisations, including the non-governmental organisations ( NGOs), to continue carrying out activities meant to benefit Sarawakians.
According to him, Sarawak currently has around 5,000 associations and organisations – all of which are able to contribute to the people in their own ways.

benefit of the ‘rakyat’ ( people),” he said prior to presenting grants to 35 local associations, organisations and committees at SUPP headquarters here yesterday.
On the grants, Dr Sim – also Batu Kawah assemblyman – expressed his hope that the contribution would be able to assist the recipients carry out their activities.
He also hoped that the grants would be put to other good uses, apart from for the purposes stated in their applications for such allocation.
He said for this year, 961 associations, organisations and NGOs have received grants from his ministry.
Political secretary to chief minister Tan Kai accompanied the minister at the event.
