DAP Serian to host ‘Tabung Harapan’ fund-raising dinner soon

KUCHING: Democratic Action Party ( DAP) Serian branch is organising a Tabung Harapan fund-raising dinner, set to take place at Serian town soon.

DAP Serian chairman Edward Andrew Luwak said the date and exact venue would be announced soon.

“We are looking for a venue that can accommodate 100 to 150 tables. We expect a federal government minister to attend the occasion.

“The objective of the event is to arouse awareness, especially among the suburban and rural communities of the country’s need for support from all citizens, all of whom have roles to play in cushioning the burden of the government in settling national debts,” he said in a press statement yesterday.

Edward said the people should be aware that the country had incurred an unprecedented level of debt and that there was a dire need to solve the problem.

“The Finance Minister has assured all that Tabung Harapan Malaysia would be managed systematically and transparently by his ministry. The people, therefore, are assured that the money donated will serve its purpose.

“We want to tell the people that it is not the amount that matters the most; it is the sincerity to help the country that really counts,” he said, adding that DAP Serian targets to raise at least RM12,000 for Tabung Harapan Malaysia during the dinner.

Edward said apart from passing the ‘cash hat’ around during the event, DAP Serian would also receive donations in cheque. For those who would like to donate via cheques, issue the cheque to ‘ TABUNG HARAPAN MALAYSIA’ – Maybank account number 5660-1062- 6452.

Edward said DAP Serian service centre at 30, on the first floor of Fortuna Plaza at Serian Town is ready to receive cheque donations.

“We will keep a record of all cheques received. The branch will acknowledge all cheque contributions and will assist in depositing the contributions into the fund.”
