-

BINTULU: It was a delightful evening for 15 orphans and 12 single mothers as they were not only treated to ‘ buka puasa’ ( break- of-fast), but also presented with ‘duit raya’ during a gathering hosted by the Children’s Activity Centre ( PAKK) Bintulu on Saturday.

The event at the centre’s premises at Lorong B11 RPR Sibiew here also hosted Bintulu District office representative Shah Hazizul Johari.

In his remarks, Shah Hazizul commended PAKK Bintulu for giving back to the community, especially to the underprivileged.

“From this programme, the less- fortunate members of the community would feel appreciated; that there are people who care about them. I also hope that such programme would be continued in the future,” said Shah Hazizul, who represented Bintulu District officer Mataip Sayu at the gathering.

Meanwhile PAKK Bintulu chairman Janudin Ab Rahman thanked Minister in Chief Minister’s Office ( Integrity and Ombudsman) Datuk Talib Zulpilip who is Jepak assemblyman, Bintulu MP Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing and the management of MDS Kemena for their contributions of hampers and other gifts to the single mothers and orphans.

On a separate subject, Janudin said PAKK Bintulu would host a joint Gawai Dayak- Hari Raya Aidilfitri gathering at Bangunan Martabat here on July 1.

According to him, the coorganisers would be Bintulu Welfare Department, as well as the neighbourhood committees ( KRTs) of Sibiew and Kampung Kemunting.
