Decision to leave BN not a wise move — Voon

-

KUCHING: National Pakatan Harapan ( PH) Women chief for Sarawak Affairs, Voon Shiak Ni said the decision by component parties of Sarawak Barisan Nasional ( BN) to leave the coalition and form a new one called Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) is not a wise move.

Instead, it would be better for them (Sarawak BN) to join hands with the PH-led federal government to lodge reports with the Malaysian Anti- Corruption Commission ( MACC) to investigate those who carry ‘ fishy files’ baggage, said Voon who is also the national PH vice chief.

She added this would be a smart move on the part of Sarawak BN chairman Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg to clean up the Sarawak BN.

Voon said this in response to news yesterday of Sarawak BN component parties leaving the coalition and forming a new one called GPS.

She said: “I do not see it as a smart move by Sarawak Chief Minister who is leading the new coalition.

“It could have been a more positive and stronger move by Abang Johari, if he had taken the bold decision of cleaning up his party.”

“Sarawakians are watching. If I am Abang Johari, I will go ahead with the cleaning-up exercise of my own Cabinet and I believe this is what the people want to see.”

“Changing the name of a coaliton will make no difference if the wrongs are not corrected in the same coalition,” she said.

Public confidence needs to be earned and earned through sincere efforts, she said.

“It is the same logic that one cannot change the personality and traits of a person by changing his name only and a bottle of intoxicated fluids will still stay toxic if we only change the bottle,” Voon said.
