-

KUCHING: Connections Toastmasters Club (CTMC) will conduct its educational meeting tomorrow ( June14) at 7.30pm at Homestay Hotel in Jalan Ellis here.

“In Toastmasters club, participants can learn and progress in a supportive learn-by- doing environment that allows you to achieve your goals at your own pace.” Vincent Chai, president of Connections Toastmasters Club, said in a press release yesterday.

Members of the public who are interested in public speaking or leadership skills are welcome to join the meeting with the theme Father’s Day.

According to Chai, a typical Toastmasters meeting will have members doing prepared speeches. Evaluation and feedback will be provided with the aim to encourage speakers to improve them further.

“There will be an impromptu speaking session, known as Table Topics which allows participant to speak for 1-2 minutes based on the topics given,” he added.

“Father’s Day is a celebration honouring fathers and celebrating fatherhood, paternal bonds, and the influence of fathers in society. It is a day of the year on which fathers are particularly honoured by their children.”

Chai thus called on everyone to take the opportunity to honour their father and tell them how much they are loved and appreciated.

The Toastmaster of the Evening (TME), also known as emcee of the coming meeting is Toastmaster Lai Chien Siang.

A committed and passionate speaker, Lai had given great speeches throughout his Toastmasters journey. He may be a young Toastmaster but when he is up on stage, you can feel his energy and passion when he speaks. It would certainly be an exhilarating night with Lai being the emcee.

The meeting is open to the public and the door fee for the club meeting is RM10 per person inclusive of light refreshment.

The meeting is held on every second and fourth Thursdays of the month at 7.30pm at Homestay Hotel.

For the past 14 years, Connections Toastmasters Club had successfully groomed many leaders and successful speakers.
