SEB on track to achieve 100 pct power coverage target
KUCHING: Sarawak has reached the 95 per cent electrification coverage, thanks to the efforts of Sarawak Energy Berhad (Sarawak Energy).
According to its chief executive officer Sharbini Suhaili, they would continue to implement the Sarawak Alternative Rural Electrification Scheme ( Sares) project which has received international recognition, to achieve the target.
Speaking at the SEB breakingoffast at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching ( BCCK) on Monday, he said the achievement was in line with their goal of achieving 100 per cent electricity coverage in the whole of Sarawak by 2025.
Sharbini said SEB had also readied several 500kVA mobile generator sets as alternative sources of electricity during planned and unplanned power supply disruptions in order to improve their response time.
“I also want cooperation from those involved in dredging and construction works near electrical cables to be more careful to avoid interruption of electricity supply,” he added.
