KUCHING: In conjunction with World Blood Donor Day today, the Sarawak Health Department has expressed its gratitude and appreciation to all blood donors who have contributed to the success of all blood donation campaigns implemented all this while.

“Congratulations and well done to all who have come forward to give their support and doing a good deed for those who needed it,” Sarawak health director Dr Jamilah Hashim said in a press statement issued here yesterday.

Each and every blood donation activity, she pointed out, are noble acts which should be valued for every drop of blood donated is precious, more so with the sincerity of the donors, to brighten up the lives of patients at Sarawak General Hospital (SGH).

“In line with the celebration theme this year, ‘ Be there for someone else. Give blood. Sharing life’, let’s together donate blood for the sick patients so that they have a chance to be with their loved ones,” she said.

“Your contribution will enable Sarawak Blood Bank to provide services and play its role as the centre of collection, processing and blood provider for patients who need it,” she added.

Dr Jamilah therefore encouraged the public to come forward and give blood periodically and frequently, while at the same time help organise more blood donation campaigns to ensure sufficient blood stock for Sarawak at all times.

She also took the opportunity on behalf of all at the Sarawak Health Department to wish ‘ Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri’ to donors in particular and all Sarawakians in general.
