GPS shows no sincerity regarding reform, alleges PKR man

-

KUCHING: The decision of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP), Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS), and Progressive Democratic Party ( PDP) to leave Barisan Nasional and form Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) has not shown the parties’ sincerity towards reform.

Parti Keadilan Rakyat ( PKR) Puncak Borneo Youth chief Musa Ngog said the ‘exodus’ on Tuesday was expected.

“If GPS is committed to a better Sarawak, the coalition should be completely overhauled to stay relevant as an opposition state. Maintaining the same old incompetent, controversial, and weak leaders in the frontline is akin to an ecdysis of BN,” he said in a press statement yesterday.

“Would GPS be loyal to Sarawakians when prior to GE14, they had praised (former Prime Minister) Datuk Seri Najib ( Tun Razak) and swore their loyalty to be together through thick and thin?”

He also questioned whether GPS could be trusted and cited issues such as Native Customary Rights land disputes.

“GPS has to piggyback on the Pakatan Harapan (PH) manifesto in regards to the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), displaying to Sarawakians that they do not possess the idealism to make Sarawak better but is now forced to copy the PH pledge on Sarawak rights,” he claimed.

“GPS must commit to govern, drive and rule Sarawak according to the aspirations of the people by announcing what reforms or agenda they have in place to uplift Sarawakians.”

According to Musa, restoring rights is a must.

“Sarawakians are fed up of the wanton corruption and abuse of state resources which are not being talked about. Will GPS commit to this?” he asked.
