Contractor claims partner deposited loan cheque into own account

-

LIMBANG: A contractor has filed a police report claiming his partner deposited a RM58,000 loan cheque into the latter’s own account without his knowledge two years ago.

Limbang district police chief Supt Mohd Bukhori Saffai said the victim, 53, from Lawas only became aware of the incident after receiving a late loan repayment notice from an agency here.

Upon checking, the contractor found the agency had issued the RM58,000 cheque as a loan to his company.

“But the cheque was taken by the victim’s partner, who put the money into his own account without the knowledge and permission of the victim.

“Feeling cheated he lodged a report for police investigation yesterday,” said Mohd Bukhori.

The case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code.

In a separate case, a labourer was arrested by the roadside at 4.30pm on Tuesday near the government jetty at Kubong Road.

“During a body search conducted on the suspect, 31, from Kampung Penapak, police found a small transparent plastic tube containing Syabu, weighing 1.05 grammes, held by the suspect in his right hand,” said Mohd Bukhori.

“The suspect is being detained at the Limbang Central Police Station lockup for further action under Section 12 ( 2) and Section 15 (1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act ( DDA) 1952.”

The suspect tested positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine use.

It is believed he became addicted to the drugs in April last year and obtained his supply from local distributors in Limbang district.
