Shanghai Youhug Media announces four productions
SHANGHAI: Shanghai Youhug Media has announced four TV drama series on the weekend: The White-haired Imperial Concubine, Nameless Detective, In The Name of People 2 and Uncle and Youth.
In The Name of People 2 will be directed by Shen Yan and written by Zhou Meisen, the famous scriptwriter who wrote the first season of the series.
While In The Name of People focused on anti- corruption efforts toward corrupt officials, season two will make corruption in the financial sector and State- owned enterprises its focus. The story will still take place in Jingzhou, a fictional city, and retain its realistic style.
According to Zhou, this is the project he most wanted to tackle after he became a writer.
Another high-profile drama, The White-haired Imperial Concubine, will star Aarif Lee as Wuyou, a prince who finds himself emotionally entangled with Rongle, the lead female character portrayed by actress Sophie Zhang.
At the announcement, Lee noted that while this is the first time the two have worked together, they had a good time cooperating on the production, which is expected to air in 2019.
Zhou is a celebrated 62-yearold novelist and screenwriter who first captivated Chinese audiences with In the Name of the People, the first television drama showing high-level corruption in Beijing.
The drama had gathered nearly three billion views across China’s biggest online video platforms.
It was even mandatory viewing at some government offices.
