Report traders who ignore zero-rated GST — MP

-

SIBU: Consumers who notice prices of goods still at the level when GST was rated at six per cent are urged to report the traders to the Ministry of Domestic Trade, Co-operation and Consumerism.

Lanang MP Alice Lau in giving the advice yesterday said she had received many complaints about the prices of goods still with the 6 per cent GST.

“If you encounter this, lodge a report with the ministry,” she told a press conference here yesterday.

She also advised those lodging such complaints to get ready the receipts for both the zero-rated GST and 6 pct GST, adding that several items such as medicines had long been GST-exempted.

Lau also suggested that Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) come up with a Facebook page to have a better touch base with the public.

She praised the council for the initiative to open a Whatsapp and Wechat hotlines to engage with the public.

The Whatsapp and Wechat complaints channel can be reached on 019-8179297.
