Re­port traders who ig­nore zero-rated GST — MP

SIBU: Con­sumers who no­tice prices of goods still at the level when GST was rated at six per cent are urged to re­port the traders to the Min­istry of Do­mes­tic Trade, Co-op­er­a­tion and Con­sumerism.

Lanang MP Alice Lau in giv­ing the ad­vice yes­ter­day said she had re­ceived many com­plaints about the prices of goods still with the 6 per cent GST.

“If you en­counter this, lodge a re­port with the min­istry,” she told a press con­fer­ence here yes­ter­day.

She also ad­vised those lodg­ing such com­plaints to get ready the re­ceipts for both the zero-rated GST and 6 pct GST, adding that sev­eral items such as medicines had long been GST-ex­empted.

Lau also sug­gested that Sibu Mu­nic­i­pal Coun­cil (SMC) come up with a Face­book page to have a bet­ter touch base with the public.

She praised the coun­cil for the ini­tia­tive to open a What­sapp and Wechat hot­lines to en­gage with the public.
