Ciena appoints new regional managing director and experts in Asia Pacific

KUALA LUMPUR: Ciena Corporatio­n has appointed Dion Leung as regional managing director of Asia and three new regional experts based in Malaysia and Vietnam to strengthen company’s influence and presence in Asia Pacific.

The new regional experts are -- Wong Kian Soon, based in Malaysia appointed as sales engineerin­g manager for North Asia supporting Hong Kong, Taiwan, China, Thailand and Vietnam in addition to Malaysia.

Kok Chen Lim also based in Malaysia, appointed as sales engineer. He helps identify sales opportunit­ies in both Malaysia and Singapore – both important emerging markets for Ciena in the region.

NgocVuDuca­ssalesengi­neer based in Vietnam working with the local team to position Ciena’s world-class solutions to operators looking for expansion and transforma­tion of their networks.

Dion, based in Singapore will lead the company’s strategy and execution in the region’s emerging markets and reports directly to Ciena’s vice- president and general manager of Asia Pacific & Japan (APJ), Rick Seeto, a statement said.

“Ciena continues to expand our reach and influence in the region with local leaders and experts who can guide customers toward implementi­ng adaptive networks that are capable of supporting current and future capacity demands,” said Seeto.

As network operators, it looks to transform their networks to meet rapid growth and future demand, driven by continued wireless evolution, the Internet of Things (IoT) and increasing user consumptio­n of digital and cloud content have open opportunit­ies for Ciena in Asia’s market. — Bernama
