PKR lodges report with MACC over Nanga Ngungun/Nanga Jagau Road project

-

SIBU: Parti Keadilan Rakyat ( PKR) Kanowit, Sibu and Lanang branches have jointly lodged a report with the Malaysian Anti- Corruption Commission ( MACC) on the RM50 million Nanga Ngungun/ Nanga Jagau Road project which was announced in 2012 by the Barisan Nasional government.

PKR Kanowit branch chairman Thomas Laja, secretary George Chen and Lanang branch chairman Law Hin Ching were among those lodging the report yesterday.

Later at a press conference, Chen said the earth- breaking ceremony for the proposed 22-km road was carried out thrice - in 2012, 2014 and 2016.

“These were done during election time, but till today not even an inch of the proposed road has been constructed,” he said.

He said it had been reported that the RM50 million had been allocated for the construction of the road.

“We Sarawakians want to know where has the money gone to. Has the money been allocated or hijacked by politicians to other areas of development?

“Today we lodged a report with MACC partly to find out the whereabouts of the money, and whether there has been any hanky panky business going on,” Chen said.

He said a similar report on the same matter was reported with the Kanowit Police on June 7, which was followed by another report with the Commercial Crime Section of Sibu Police headquarters on June 11.

“MACC Sibu Office has promised to act accordingly, and bring this case to MACC headquarters in Kuala Lumpur for further investigation.

“Hopefully in a month or two, we will get the result. We will have a lot more of similar reports which include Kampung Nangka issue and a case over logging,” Chen added.
