Home Affairs Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the Royal Malaysia Police ( PDRM) would cooperate with the Indonesian authorities for follow-up action to detain Jamal and bring him back to Malaysia.

“I am told he is still in Indonesia. We even know the specific locations he has been to, the cooperation with the Indonesian police is even better and they have indicated the follow-up action to be taken to detain Jamal, because our order is to detain and bring him back to Malaysia,” he told reporters at the Aidilfitri open house of the Inspector- General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun at Bukit Aman here yesterday.

Jamal, 48, was reported to have disappeared after being charged at Ampang Putri Specialist Hospital on May 25, with his disappearance being noticed by Shah Alam Court Assistant Registrar who was managing his bond processing at about 5.30pm.

Jamal was charged with being a public nuisance by breaking a liquor bottle using a hammer at the front gate of the State Secretariat Building in Shah Alam, Selangor on Oct 5 last year.

In addition, he was also investigated for several other cases including under Section 34 of the Firearms Act 1960.

In the latest video clip dated June 22, Jamal who is also contesting for the post of Umno Youth head, said he was still in the country and placed a condition that he was elected to the post before surrendering to the police.

Jamal, however, lost in the contest involving nine contenders – it was eventually won by Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki last Sunday. — Bernama
