Woman found bound, gagged in suspected robbery-cum-murder
SIBU: A woman was found murdered in her house on Wednesday following a suspected robbery at Pulau Kerto here.
The deceased, identified as Ting Poh Sing, 58, was discovered by her elder sister bound and gagged around 7pm.
District police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the matter came to light when the elder sister and her daughter went to the house to visit Ting, who lived together with her 85-year- old mother.
When they arrived at the house, they found the front gate and front door locked. After managing to enter, they saw the entire house was dark and soon found the octogenarian in her room.
“When they arrived at the house, they found the front gate and front door locked. After managing to enter, they saw the entire house was dark and soon found the octogenarian in her room.
“They then called out to the victim several times but did not get an answer. So they went to her bedroom and, upon opening the door, found her lifeless body on the floor with her legs and hands tied, and mouth covered with a towel,” he said.
According to Stanley, the victim also had bruises on her eyes, neck, ribs and waist, and her bedroom was in a mess.
He said the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, with police currently trying to establish a motive.
“It could be a robbery turned murder,” he said.
