533 premises inspected during price control scheme period

BINTULU: A total of 533 premises were inspected by the Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperativ­es and Consumeris­m ( KPDNKK) Bintulu to ensure compliance with the price control scheme in conjunctio­n with Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

KPDNKK Bintulu chief Salihin Den said during the operation which was conducted for 15 days until June 22 they had recorded two cases of violation.

He said the cases were investigat­ed under the Price Control and Anti-Profiteeri­ng Regulation­s for failure to display pink price tags on the controlled items.

He disclosed that compounds of RM300 were issued on the spot and a total of RM292 worth of goods were seized.

Salihin told this to reporters when met during the KPDNKK Bintulu Gawai-Raya Open House at its premises yesterday.

In another developmen­t, he said under ‘Ops Catut 4.0’, a total of 10 complaints were received under the ministry’s ‘e-aduan’ system for non- compliance with zero-rated Goods and Services Tax (GST) on goods by traders.

Meanwhile for ‘Ops LPG’ which started on June 1, KPDNKK Bintulu has inspected 11 premises as of June 26, comprising six hotels, three laundry shops and two factories during which two warning notices were issued.

“I would like to remind the industrial users to comply and to use the 50kg liquefied petroleum gas ( LPG) tank and not the 14kg LPG cylinder for domestic use.

“They are also advised to apply for a permit in order to be able to buy and keep the LPG in their store because without valid permit, the suppliers will not be allowed to sell the industrial-sized 50kg cylinder to them because it is illegal,” he added.

Overall, he said KPDNKK Bintulu had recorded 53 cases of various offences up to this month with items seized valued at RM122,541.40, compounds totalling RM6,900 issued and a total of 3,866 premises inspected.

Earlier, more than 100 people from all walks of life attended the open house from 12.30pm to 2.30pm.

Among those present were Bintulu Resident Jack Aman Luat, Bintulu district officer Mataip Sayu and Bintulu Police One Stop Centre chief ASP Arman Khan Abdullah.
