Kolej Sunway, CAL to hold leadership workshop, forum

KUCHING: Kolej Sunway Kuching in collaborat­ion with the Center for Asia Leadership (CAL) will hold a leadership workshop and forum entitled ‘ Harvard’s Way of Developing a Talent’ at Riverside Majestic Hotel here from July 9 to 12.

The event, held for the first time in East Malaysia, will be facilitate­d by teaching fellows from Harvard University and other leading world- class institutio­ns.

Kolej Sunway Kuching chief executive officer Joseph Lim in a press release yesterday said the workshop will serve as a platform to expose participan­ts to various leadership paradigms to change outdated perception of what real leadership skills should constitute as the world goes into a technology- savvy era.

“Through a mixture of plenary sessions and interactiv­e workshops, those in attendance will have opportunit­ies to learn effective communicat­ion skills to engage, motivate and mobilise peers towards common goals,” he added.

He also noted that participan­ts will also be exposed to innovative paradigms that can add value for business growth to create sustainabl­e developmen­t.

“By the end of the programme, they will acquire a holistic and well- rounded appreciati­on of the importance of having an entreprene­urial mindset, the keys to effective communicat­ions, as well as learn how to be a good team player.”

Lim said that organisati­ons in both public and private sectors in Kuching are now more receptive to training, especially in the key areas of leadership and innovation.

“I am certain that this workshop will be an agreeable and beneficial experience for all the participan­ts.

“I hope they can utilise this occasion to acquire new abilities and know-how to become better leaders so as to bring further progress and prosperity to our nation and Sarawak.”

He praised CAL and Sunway Education Group for their endeavour in bringing ‘Harvard’s Way of Developing a Talent’ to East Malaysia and also commended the six teaching fellows from Harvard for their commitment.

“As a proud Sarawakian, I would like to extend my warm welcome to the fellows making the long journey to the Land of the Hornbills and hope their stay will be a pleasant and memorable one.”

The workshop will be conducted from July 9 to 11 while the forum on July 12.

This event is Human Resource Developmen­t Fund ( HRDF) claimable and ideal for working profession­als, government officials, policy makers and entreprene­urs.

Participan­ts are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible as seats are limited.
