Home welcomes public contributi­on in cash and kind

MIRI: The management board of Hamidah Yakub Welfare Complex ( Komplexs Kebajikan Hamidah Yakup) here welcomes any form of contributi­on from the public to the charitable home.

Its chairman Councillor Julaihi Mohamad said such contributi­on was very much needed in seeing to it that the welfare and developmen­t needs of the orphans are well taken care of.

“Your contributi­on can come in any form, be it financial or through work parties to clean and beautify the complex surroundin­g, giving free tuition, motivation, and donation of daily necessitie­s such as food and items of personal hygiene,” he said when met during the presentati­on of Hari Raya contributi­on by a Limbang-

based company, Madury Jaya Entreprise, at the home here on Wednesday.

Julaihi, who is also deputy mayor of Miri City Council, said the orphanage board was grateful that many people had come forward to help the orphanage one way of the other.

“Todate, we have 65 orphans from various parts of northern Sarawak housed at the complex. We are looking after their welfare and also ensure that the children get formal education until the tertiary level.”

Earlier, the manager of Madury Jaya Entreprise, Musa Burut and his wife Asmah Abdullah @ Ranik Nijan presented festive gifts to the orphans.

It was Musa’s second visit to the orphanage yesterday and the first one was done with similar intent.

“The welfare matters of the orphans are very close to my heart particular during festive seasons.

“Thus, I hope this little contributi­on will bring festive cheers to the orphans,” he said.
