SK Melayu Pusat seeks to raise education standard

-

LIMBANG: SK Melayu Pusat – the oldest school in the district – will continue to work closely with all parties in its efforts to raise the standard of education.

According to headmaster Usop Sapihi, the cooperation is not only with school’s parent-teacher association (PTA) but also with government and private agencies, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) as well as local communities.

“Teachers are very worried (about their pupils) and sometimes, they seem angry when teaching because they are determined to ensure that the children would excel in their studies,” he said when speaking at the school’s ‘Kongsi Hari Raya’ celebration on Friday.

The annual programme was held to give the public a chance to celebrate festive occasions with members of the school’s staff and other guests.

Suraya Habibollah, who represented Limbang District Education Office (PPD) and SK Melayu Pusat PTA chairman Mohamad Alias Jalani were also present.

Earlier in her speech, Suraya said the open house culture observed during every celebration must be nurtured at school level to foster unity and harmony among educators, parents and the community.

“PPD Limbang continues to support all school activities aimed at strengthening unity and racial harmony.

“Besides focusing on academic excellence, we also hope that our country, comprising people from diverse racial and religious backgrounds, would continue to enjoy harmony,” she said.
