Jony, Hanif in front as go-karters race to October finale
KUCHING: Jony Abas scored another win in Class A of the July Series of the Red Bull Go Kart Clone Racing Series at the Serapi Race Track at Kilometre 8, Jalan Palma Indah, off Jalan Matang recently.
He finished ahead of Simon Fang, Lim Ong Sian and Shukry Fasihuddin.
In fi fth to seventh positions were Khairul Arifi n, Ferris Tsen and Nicky Orrellius respectively.
The latest victory puts Jony fi rmly in the driver’s seat for the title to be decided in October.
He leads the overall standings with 387 points so far followed by Khairul Arifin ( 378), Lim Ong Sian ( 365), Nicky Orrelius ( 353), Azzra Izzwan (172), Simon Fang ( 95), Shukry Fasihuddin ( 89), Alexander Marvin Manzes ( 89) and Ferris Tsen (83).
Meanwhile, youngest go-karter in the competition Hanif Arif claimed his first win in Class B to collect 100 points.
Kon Jew Chung was second with Chen Kuoyang in third spot followed by Awangku Shafiq, Matthew Than fifth and Henry Chong.
Hanif now leads the Class B overall standings with 385 points ahead of Chen Kuoyang ( 384), Hansel Matthew Than (359), Henry Chong (272), Kon Jew Chung (181) and Awangku Shafiq (89).
All races count for year- end points and drivers who complete a minimum of five races by the last race in October will obtain bonus points.
It is 15 points for eight races, 12 points for seven races, eight points for six races and four points for five races.
