Salman in legal trouble, again

-

NEW DELHI: Salman Khan's legal woes seem to be neverending. Controversy's favourite child is yet again in trouble. The actor's lavish farmhouse in Panvel recently came under an environmental audit.

Salman's family owns ‘Arpita Farms' in Wajapur, which was declared as an eco-sensitive zone in 2003. Report claims that as many as 11 constructions have been found in the area which belong to six members of the Khan family. Out of the 11, two were raised before 2003 while the rest were erected after the notice that banned contruction of new buildings in the zone.

Maharashtra's forest department sent a legal notice to Salman Khan's father, Salim Khan, on June 9 this year, seeking a reply on the same. “As per an earlier notice dated Nov 21, 2017, an offence was registered for violating the Forest Act for cement/concrete construction on your Arpita farms. After this office checked the documents, it appears that you have done such illegal constructions repeatedly. It is seen that these offences have taken place at Arpita farms,” the letter in Marathi reads.

“Within seven days of the receipt of this letter, what you have to say in the matter be tendered to the undersigned. If you do not give any explanation in the matter within the said time, then it would be presumed, that you have got nothing to say in the matter and legal action shall be taken against your family, which you may note,” the notice warned.

Ownership rights of the property rest with Salman Khan, his sisters Alvira and Arpita, brothers Arbaaz and Sohail and mother Helen. On being asked to comment on the same, Salim Khan said, “Right now, it's an allegation. We will speak at the right time. I have nothing more to say.”

Meanwhile Wajpur's forest officer SS Kapse, who had issued the notice to the Khans, has been ‘shifted out' of his jurisdiction. He has challenged the transfer. At the same time, Salman's brother Arbaaz Khan too is facing the heat for his involvement in an IPL betting case.
