Head of State tells civil servants to make use of social media applications to improve delivery system

THOSE in the civil sector are urged to make use of social media applications as a new approach to improve the quality of their delivery system.

Speaking during his opening address at the State Legislative Assembly, the Yang di- Pertua Negeri Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud said social media is an effective platform for the government to reach out to the people and vice-versa.

“Hence, the information contained in social media should be accurate and correct. This is to ensure that action is taken promptly by the government, especially on issues that are raised by the people,” he added.

Taib expressed his gratitude to Sarawak’s public service for their professionalism, integrity and close cooperation among each other regardless of their race and religion.

He also urged civil servants to perform their duties and responsibilities more efficiently to ensure smooth implementation of the Sarawak’s development policies and strategies.

On another note, he said Sarawak government had completed the mid- term review of the 11th Malaysia Plan.

“I urge that development programmes and projects approved in the mid-term review be completed on schedule to benefit the people,” he added.

He also pointed out that public assets such as roads, school buildings, clinics and recreational facilities must be systematically managed and maintained.
