Appointment of press secretary yet to be finalised — Syed Saddiq

-

PUTRAJAYA: Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman said he was in the process of finalising the appointment of several officers to his ministry.

“I am still studying the resumes received since last week. So far I have not appoint my press secretary officially,” he said.

He told reporters waiting at the lobby of the Youth and Sports Ministry ( KBS) after receiving information that a group calling themselves the Malaysian LGBT rights advocacy group would hold a peaceful assembly at KBS to protest against Syed Saddiq’s non admission that he had appointed a LGBT advocate as his officer.

However the media who waited as early as 8am until 10.30am found that the group did not turn up with only Syed Saddiq who found the waiting media there.

Syed Saddiq said investigations were being conducted at the ministry’s level to identify the parties responsible for listing Numan Afifi Saadan’s name as his officer as no official appointment had been made.

The list that includes Numan Afifi’s name as an officer at the Youth and Sports Minister’s office went viral on social media recently and received criticisms from many parties as the individual concerned was believed to be involved in a Pride Day breaking of fast event last year.

Meanwhile Numan Afifi in his facebook account said he decided not to continue his job at KBS and the new press secretary would be appointed officially in the near future. — Bernama
