-

MIRI: Sibuti MP Lukanisman Awang Sauni is looking forward to his maiden parliamentary session when the 14th parliament sits from July 16. Lukanisman said he is excited and committed to raising proposals on government policy under the new Malaysia.

“I have prepared more than 10 questions verbally and in writing so that the relevant ministries will listen to the wishes of the people,” he said here yesterday.

Lukanisman, from Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersastu ( PBB) who was elected as MP at the 14th General Election said he is on high spirit despite being in the opposition bloc.

“I will be sworn in as a member of the Dewan Rakyat on July 16 and then carry on my duties to claim the rights of Sarawak as in the Malaysia Agreement 1963,” he explained.

He said he will raise issues on government policies especially those affecting his constituency.

“The new Federal Government needs to continue with the policies of the past government if it cares for the welfare of the people and is looking into reducing the cost of living for the people,” he explained.

According to him, the 20day sitting will provide space and opportunity for elected representatives from opposition blocs to voice out the grassroots’ problems and he will also raise up issues involving dilapidated schools and the Teachers Training Institute ( IPG).

“Another issue that is of concern is when Malaysia failed to achieve the goal of becoming a drug free country by 2015 and I will debate the new government’s direction in dealing with drug issues,” he said.
