‘Technology must be used in teaching and learning process’
MIRI: The process of teaching and learning should no longer be confined to just using textbooks and whiteboards, but instead take into account the use of technology.
Miri District education officer Shirini Mastura Mohamed Zulkifli said teachers must utilise the internet and computer technology in their teaching.
“In the global world now, we can see that access to knowledge can be achieved promptly through today’s rapid information and communications technology,” she said in a speech delivered by Miri District Education Office cocurriculum assistant supervisor Zahirul Jazmi during the Miri Primary and Secondary Schools Teachers’ Speech Competition yesterday.
Shirini said work in the classroom now focuses on Higher Order Thinking Skills.
“I am aware that the Ministry of Education itself is dedicated to the 21st century learning concept, which is more fun for the students and has a high impact in terms of its effectiveness,” she said.
She also praised the competition participants, pointing out that public speaking is no easy task.
