KUCHING: The inaugural ‘ Executive Leadership School: Harvard’s Way of Developing a Talent East Malaysia’ gave locals the opportunity to learn from teaching fellows from Harvard University.

The three- day leadership workshop and one-day forum which started Monday was participated by 60 people from various corporations and government agencies in Sarawak.

“This programme was designed for participants to gain fresh insights on ways to exercise leadership in today’s complex workplace. The 21st- century generation of employees needs a different mix of skills as we head into a world that is increasingly automated and outdated practices that are phased out.

“Employees need to have skills like creativity, innovation, critical thinking, problem solving, collaboration and adaptability to thrive at the workplace,” said Centre for Asia Leadership Initiatives president and co-founder Samuel Kim at the closing of the programme here yesterday.

He said the session included a mix of plenary sessions and interactive workshops which expose participants to the various approaches to leadership and allow them to discover what real leadership looks like.

He hoped that participants will take the opportunity to acquire relevant skills and knowledge needed to become capable leaders in their respective fields.

The programme was held in collaboration with Kolej Sunway Kuching.

Teaching fellows at the programme included Tufts Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy cum Centre for Asia Leadership director of international affairs and cofounder John Lim.

Also present was Kolej Sunway Kuching chief executive officer Joseph Lim.
