Dr Mahathir will be in Kuching over the weekend
KUCHING: Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad will be in Kuching this Saturday to attend a private wedding reception and meet Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg on Sunday.
The Malaysian premier and Pakatan Harapan chairman is expected to arrive here at around 8.30am on Saturday.
A source revealed that he will be attending former federal minister Tan Sri Leo Moggie Irok granddaughter’s wedding reception at Cove 55 in Santubong.
Moggie is currently Tenaga Nasional Bhd chairman and a long time friend of Dr Mahathir. He is also expected to meet Abang Johari at around 9.30am on Sunday and the former will be briefed on Sarawak’s development.
The Sarawak government had announced that they would cooperate with the federal government on the development of Sarawak. Abang Johari is the chairman of Gabungan Parti Sarawak ( GPS) – the government coalition at state level but an opposition at federal level.
