Muhyiddin undergoes successful surgery to remove growth

PUTRAJAYA: Home Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin underwent a successful operation to remove a growth on the pancreas which was detected at an early stage.

The Ministry of Home Affairs said in a statement yesterday that Muhyiddin would be on leave beginning today to undergo followup treatment and is expected to be back to work within a month’s time.

“Alhamdulil­lah (with the grace of Allah), the surgery was successful and his condition is now stable,” the statement said.

The Home Minister’s office also said that Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad would carry out the tasks of the Home Minister during the absence. — Bernama
