Road construction awaiting further directive from Mindef — Ngemah rep told

CONSTRUCTION of a 20km road from Nanga Ngungun to Nanga Jagau and subsequently from Nanga Jagau to Ulu Simujan in Ngemah constituency is pending further directive from the Ministry of Defence ( Mindef).

Assistant Minister of Transportation Datuk Dr Jerip Susil informed that Ministry of Defence ( Mindef ) is currently waiting for instructions and latest policies from the federal government in compliance with the official letter from the Ministry of Finance ( MOF).

“The projects have been approved by the MOF under Jiwa Murni programme on March 12, 2018 for implementation by the Mindef,” he told the august house yesterday.

Dr Jerip was responding to Ngemah assemblyman Alexander Vincent’s query on the current status of the projects in view of the current political scenario.

“This project is classified under Category B ( medium critical) of rural infrastructure and has to be referred again to the Economic Planning Unit for further consideration,” he added.

On the scope of works, he revealed that the quality and type of roads to be constructed will come under JKR specifications standard.
