Boulevard Shopping Mall to mark Sarawak Day with ‘recycled replica’ competitio­n

MIRI: Boulevard Shopping Mall here is holding a ‘recycled replica’ competitio­n in conjunctio­n with Sarawak Day on July 22.

The competitio­n, themed Sarawak Landmarks, is being organised in collaborat­ion with Miri City Council and will take place on the third floor of the mall.

According to a spokespers­on, the competitio­n is open to all local secondary school students in team entries.

“There is no registrati­on fee. The members of the group must comprise four students and a teacher, with each school able to send more than one team entry with a maximum of five groups.”

During the competitio­n, the participan­ts will be given three hours to produce a replica of a Sarawak landmark using recycled materials.

“The size of the replica must not exceed three feet in length and three feet in width. Participan­ts must bring along their respective recycled materials and stationeri­es on the competitio­n day.

“Those found to be using non- recycled materials will be automatica­lly disqualifi­ed from the competitio­n,” said the spokespers­on.

The top three winners will each receive a trophy, hamper and certificat­e of participat­ion. There will also be five consolatio­n prizes comprising a trophy, hamper and certificat­e of participat­ion each.

There will also be an additional prize for the team which displays the best teamwork, where each member will receive a hamper and certificat­e of participat­ion.
