Repok rep distributes RTP fund totalling RM5 million
SARIKEI: Repok assemblyman Dato Sri Huang Tiong Sii on Wednesday distributed Rural Transformation Project ( RTP) fund totalling RM5 million to facilitate the implementation of various projects here.
Of the amount, RM235,000 was shared among nine schools for upgrading of classroom blocks and other facilities; RM1,550,000 for upgrading of St Anthony’s Church, Sarikei Methodist Town Church, Nyelong Park Methodist Church and constructing fence around a Muslim burial ground; RM200,000 for repair of two longhouses ( Rumah Bajut and Rumah Ngelai) and RM900,000 for upgrading of Maksak building and a court, construction of a basketball stadium and upgrading of Sarawak Dayak National Union ( SDNU)) Sarikei branch building.
“The RTP fund was allocated by Sarawak government through its assemblymen for this year,” Huang said during a cheque presentation ceremony to recipients or their representatives at his service centre.

infrastructure, facilities, utilities and amenities such as roads, clinics, treated water supply, electricity supply and schools.
“There are still a lot more needed to be done to improve the living standard of the people,” Huang admitted when speaking at the function.
He hoped the people would appreciate his small contributions as their elected representative while citing as an example the RM100,000 contribution to Sarikei Hospital to improve the living standard of the local people.
Among the big projects in his priority list which he hoped would materialize soon are a road linking Sarikei to Tanjung Manis; relocation of commercial wharf to a new site across Sungai Nyelong; and opening of agricultural land or Agro Park here.
He also hoped that Sarikei MP Andrew Wong would help the local people to request for development fund from the PH-helmed federal government.
