Navy veterans association to hold first TGM on Aug 4
SIBU: The Malaysian Navy Veterans Association Sarawak ( PVTLDMS) will be holding its inaugural triennial general meeting ( TGM) and election on Aug 4 in Kuching.
Its pro tem president, Mohamad Safree Mohamad Kassim, told a press conference here yesterday that the meeting will start at 9am in the Navy’s representative office at Tanah Putih, Pending Road.
“PVTLDMS’ registration was approved by Veterans Affairs Department (JHEV) on April 11, this year. The pro tem committee has collectively consented that the election of all posts be open to all ex-navy personnel who are attending the meeting.”
Mohamad Safree said the posts to be contested included president, deputy president, two vicepresidents as well as 10 committee members.
Safree, who is eyeing the president’s post, said posts like secretary and treasurer will be appointed by the committee later.
Meanwhile, he said the association will work closely with other veterans associations in Sarawak such as Sarawak Veteran Armed Forces of Malaysia Association and ExNavy Association Sarawak.
“We all share the same objective of safeguarding the welfare of veterans and joining hands to assist JHEV,” he said.
Commenting further, he said they are opening up counters in collaboration with JHEV for replacement of old veterans cards.
Also present at the press conference were pro tem deputy president Abdul Gapor Awang Ratu, vice-president 1 Mohamad Nasir Mohamad Kassim, secretary Sali Uin and treasurer Augustine Jadam Bungsu.
