MIRI: Fifteen members of Moving Communities will take part in the Miri leg of ‘Colour Rush 2018’ charity run this Sept 23, as part of their bid to spread awareness of childhood cancer.

According to the team’s representative Susan Supang Yee, the charity run organised by Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society (SCCS) has done tremendous work in disseminating information about childhood cancer over the years.

“Therefore the Moving Communities – a community action team that is made up of multi-racial women in Miri – is ready to go all out in encouraging the people in Miri as well as those from other places to come and support this cause,” she said during a press conference here yesterday, adding that the team is working actively in encouraging more people to join the run, which enters its sixth edition this year.

SCCS president Jocelyn Hee, who received the registration forms from Susan, expressed her appreciation to Moving Communities and also the public for their support to the run.

“Our target for the Miri leg is 3,300 runners. So far, we have registered 2,000 participants. We are looking forward to seeing more people sign up for the run,” she said.

The handover of forms was witnessed by SCCS advisor Datuk Lorna Enan Muloon, who is also the patron of Moving Communities.

The flag-off for ‘Colour Rush 2018’ will be at Saradise Kuching this Sept 17, Miri Marina Recreational Park here on Sept 23, and Sibu Town Square on Sept 30.

Registration fee per person is RM45, which includes a runner’s bib and coloured powder. Those who complete the 5km route will each get an exclusive medal in the shape of a gold ribbon.

Mirians wishing to sign up can obtain the registration forms at Somerset Hotel located at No 12, Kwang Tung Road here. The counter there opens Mondays to Fridays, from 9am to 4pm daily.

The public can also visit the ‘Colour Rush Weekend Roadshow’ at Permaisuri Imperial City Mall here on Saturdays and Sundays, from 10am to 8pm daily – opening till end of August.
