Fishing competition set to attract over 150 anglers
KUCHING: The fourth edition of the fishing competition in conjunction with the 4th Semadang International Tagang Festival is expected to attract more than 150 local and foreign fishing enthusiasts.
According to the event coordinator, Krisnam Louis Sebod, the competition would take place at Semadang River in Kampung Semadang, Borneo Heights, about 40km from here on Sept 1.
Prizes would be awarded for three categories — the fastest catch, the biggest catch, and most catch( based on total fish weight).
Winners of the fastest and heaviest catch categories would receive RM100 and a trophy each.
“Champion of the most catch category will return home with RM500 and a trophy, while the first runner-up will take home RM300 and a trophy, and the second runner up RM200 and a trophy. There are also seven consolation prizes worth RM50 each,” Krisnam said.
Registration fee has been set at RM20 for one fi shing rod/two hooks.
“The use of triple hooks is not allowed but the use of bait is free, while the fish caught must be alive and handed over to the judges for weighing,” he said, adding that the fish should be bolt (only the hook in the mouth is counted).

with the rules will be automatically excluded from the competition and the participation fee will not be refunded,” he said.
Krisnam said participants are allowed to bring back the fish they caught or release them into the river after the weighing process.
Registration of participants will be held at Kampung Semadang multi-purpose hall from 7am until 9am, while the competition will start at 10am and end at 1pm.
