Bersatu spreads its wings to northern S’wak

LAWAS: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia ( Bersatu) now has a presence in Lawas, with the establishm­ent of its division here yesterday.

Dr Samuil Ashton One was elected the pro tem division head during the election of office- bearers at a hotel here, witnessed by Bersatu Sarawak chairman Johan Mohamad.

Dr Samuil is assisted by Mokti Ahmad as deputy chairman, and Baru Sinau as vice- chairman, while Norazalina Mohd Said is the Women’s chief and Elisha Samuil Batuncang is the Youth chief.

Winston Joshua Tar, Esem Musa and and Petrus Abai are the respective secretary, treasurer and publicity chief.

The pro tem executive committee members are David Seminar One, John Gusa, Low Sigar, New Age @ Lalong Baru, Murai Selutan, Yahya Lachan, Awang Mustapha, Riyah Basrah, Josely Pengiran, Lagan Braok, Mariam Maid, Jamilah Usop, Noralifah Japar, Dayang Suhana and Norain Abdul Rahman.

The meeting was attended by 30 people, comprising mostly small- time entreprene­urs and youths.

Johan asserted that Bersatu’s struggle is to ensure that the indigenous community in this district could enjoy fair socioecono­mic distributi­on.

He also said a cooperativ­e would be set up to assist local entreprene­urs.

Meanwhile, Dr Samuil said Bersatu Lawas would ensure that young and small entreprene­urs here would get to enjoy a fair share of the economic cake.

The division is targeting to recruit 1,000 members.
