UPSI creates mobile app for its postgraduate students

-

IPOH: Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris ( UPSI), via its Institute of Graduate Studies ( IPS), has created a mobile app for postgraduate students to better manage their academic workload.

Developed since January this year, the app – named e-IPS – enables users to access facultyrelated information and store student registration details on a centralised platform through the setting up of an individual user account.

With the e-IPS, students can access latest faculty news, financial statements and arrears, updated tutorial schedules, and important reminders such as the status of Employees Provident Fund ( EPF) withdrawal application (to settle education loan).

Information technology assistant officer of IPS and project leader for e-IPS, Nur Fakhriah Abdullah, said the management of IPS came up with the idea of making an app after receiving feedbacks from its postgraduate students.

“The app is developed to help students become more aware of current faculty events and announcements from time to time.

“A total of 500 students have downloaded the application since it was introduced in May this year. As the e-IPS is currently in the fi rst phase of development, it is only compatible with Android smartphones. Improvements will be made for the benefits of students using the iOS system on their devices,” she said in a statement here yesterday.

The e-IPS was awarded a fourstar rating in the 10th UPSI Innovative and Creative ( KIK) Group Convention Competition and was selected to represent UPSI to the 14th Public University KIK Convention to be held on Aug 13 at Universiti Malaya. — Bernama
