SIBU: The Works Ministry is confident it will be able to connect schools without electricity in Sarawak to the main grid if assigned to do so.

Minister Baru Bian said the ministry has a good track record when it comes to repairing dilapidated schools in the country, and should not have any problems in fulfilling the task of connecting schools to the main grid subject to budget availability.

“We (Works Ministry) have delivered (the repairing of) dilapidated schools throughout Malaysia. We are confident that if they (Education Ministry) give it to us, we will deliver as well but of course, subject to budget (availability).

“If there is a budget for it, I am sure we can do it,” he said following his arrival here yesterday for a working visit.

He was commenting on a Facebook post by Education Minister Dr Maszlee Malik that works to connect schools without electricity supply in Sarawak to the main grid has been assigned to the Public Works
