TBS urged to play more active role in sharing information

KUCHING: Sarawak Baitulmal Fund (TBS) needs to play a more active role in disseminating information and also publicise the types of assistance it offers to the needy.

Assistant Minister of Rural Electricity Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, in making this call said it was important that the public throughout Sarawak are made aware of the various forms of assistance provided to help the less fortunate.

“I am confident that providing continuous information will further enhance cooperation from eligible communities to pay zakat to fulfil their responsibilities. This support will help to increase TBS funds that are then distributed to the community, especially among the needy Muslims,” he added during a working visit to TBS here on Friday.

The role played by TBS in assisting the less fortunate Muslims by channeling various assistance such as for welfare, education and so forth has had a very positive impact on society, Dr Abdul Rahman said.

“This was proven when the fund received recognition awards both locally and abroad at various levels since its establishment. Congratulations to the general manager of TBS, Datu Abg Mohd Shibli Abg Mohd Nailie, and all his staff for their excellent running of this organisation,” he said.

According to Dr Abdul Rahman, the success of TBS is evident in its management when it was recognised by the world and even became a role model to other countries.

Apart from that, he added that this also illustrated that its management in accordance with Islamic law has received prestigious recognition and hoped that the fund will maintain this excellent performance for the benefit of future generations.
