New contract steers Velesto Energy into clearer waters

Analysts are optimistic on Velesto Energy Bhd (Velesto) having secured a contract for its Naga 7 jack-up rig to drill four confirmed wells with an option for three more from Sarawak Shell/Sabah Shell Petroleum Company Ltd, a subsidiary of Royal Dutch Shell, commencing between August 1 and September 30, 2018.

This contract will make use of the available capacity at Naga 7.

Dayang ‘no stranger to MCM works’

Dayang Enterprise Holdings Bhd (Dayang), which was recently awarded a contract for the provision of Pan Malaysia Maintenanc­e, Constructi­on and Modificati­on (PM-MCM), is no stranger to MCM works. In a filing to Bursa Malaysia, Dayang announced that wholly-owned subsidiary company Dayang Enterprise Sdn Bhd (DESB), has been awarded a contract by Murphy Sarawak Oil Co Ltd and Murphy Sabah Oil Co Ltd for the provision of PM-MCM contract for year 2018 to 2023.

MIEA calls on real estate negotiator­s to renew tags

Real estate negotiator­s (REN) in Sarawak are called upon to renew their REN tage during the upcoming Continuous Developmen­t Programme (CDC) course on September 25, 2018 at Imperial Hotel, Kuching. Organised by Malaysian Institute of Real Estate Agents (MIEA) Sarawak, this CDC course is compulsory for all real estate negotiator­s, endorsed and approved by the Board of Valuers, Appraisers, Estate Agents and Property Managers (BOVAEAP) to renew their tags for 2019.

Labuan IBFC aims to maintain positive trend in captive insurance

The Labuan Internatio­nal Business and Financial Centre (Labuan IBFC) hopes to sustain the positive trend in take-up of captive insurance in the midshore centre this year, after registerin­g the highest growth in the region last year. Labuan Financial Services Authority (Labuan FSA) Director-General Danial Mah Abdullah said a total of six captives were approved by the authority last year, the highest in the region with a total of US$360.9 million in underwritt­en gross premium.

Sacofa Sdn Bhd ( Sacofa) recently conducted a public seminar on the misconcept­ion people have on the dangers and hazards of Electro Magnetic Field (EMF) and Radio Frequency (RF) emissions to people living in close proximity to telecommun­ications towers.

Sacofa’s public safety drive, which is now in its second year, helps the public to better understand telco towers, how vastly important they are to the state’s developmen­t, and that they pose no threat to public health and safety.
