Pustaka says 3,000 to benefit from outreach programme
MIRI: Pustaka Miri has set a target of at least 3,000 participants to benefit from a series of ongoing knowledge outreach and digital inclusivity programme this year.
According to the library’s spokesperson, the outreach programme would involve a total of 36 sessions.
“It is organised in collaboration with Curtin Malaysia, Sarawak Multimedia Authority and community leaders. The programme is in line with the government’s efforts to ensure that Sarawakians are information communication technology ( ICT) literate.”
The programme starts today (Aug 11) and will end on Aug 13, at different locations. About 200 students are expected to benefit from the programme at SMK Tinjar from 9am until 4pm today.
The next one would be held on Aug 12 at Kampung Long San (from 2pm until 5pm), followed by SK St Pius and SMK Temenggong Datuk Lawai Jau the next day at the same village.
“This ICT-based programme will provide the participants a venue to embrace innovation and creativity with emerging technologies. At the end of the day they would be equipped with necessary skills to perform online transaction.”
Through the information literacy classes, the participants would be able to recognise when information is needed and have the ability to locate, evaluate, and use effectively the needed information.
