KUCHING: The Dayak Bidayuh National Association ( DBNA) Penrissen held the Puncak Borneo 2018 PPKS Skills Camp together with the Sarawak Skills Development Centre ( PPKS) recently.

A press release said 52 youths gained insight into the importance of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

DBNA Penrissen chairman Aloysious Kuyong said the camp was an important outreach programme to share with students, school leavers, and parents on the importance of TVET and its attractive career pathways.

The programme included motivational and career talks, exhibition featuring PPKS’ Tvet programmes, showcase of training equipment and students’ projects, and course counselling sessions.

Aloysious said DBNA Penrissen has also held career guidance seminars for Form 4 and 5 students, and various activities for primary schools.

Meanwhile, PPKS Kuching campus director John Rizal Biki said the choice of a career is an important decision along life’s journey.

“I am confident that students and school leavers who participate in today’s skills camp will be able to make the right decisions about their future career,” he said.

With the increasing importance of Industry 4.0 and the Digital Economy, he urged youths to equip themselves with a blend of technical and soft skills.
