Mercedes-Benz launches S450L in East M’sia

KUCHING: Mercedes-Benz Malaysia launched its new S450L in East Malaysia at Hap Seng Star Sdn Bhd on Thursday.

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia sales and marketing vice-president Mark Raine unveiled the brand new S- Class model.

The S450L is powered by a three-litre six- cylinder petrol engine from an all-new Mercedes-Benz family of powertrain­s paired with a 9GTronic automatic transmissi­on an output of 367hp with 500Nm of torque for a 0-100km per hour time of 5.4 seconds.

Raine said the S- Class is a key product of Mercedes- Benz that is exclusive, contempora­ry, and timeless.

“S- Class stands for modern luxury and this is the first time we unveil it in East Malaysia,” he said, adding Mercedes- Benz Malaysia launched the S- Class family in Kuala Lumpur recently.

He said the S- Class family comes with state- of- the- art safety features and assistance systems, not to mention superior craftsmans­hip and materials.

A press release said the new S- Class takes another big step towards autonomous driving and elevates Intelligen­t Drive to the next level.

“Active Distance Control Distronic and Active Steering Assist now provide even more comfortabl­e support for the driver to keep a safe distance and steer. The speed is now adjusted automatica­lly ahead of bends, junctions or roundabout­s,” said the press release.

The S- Class features three distinctiv­e torches of light as an exclusive design element, while the front bumper with pronounced air intakes and sporty looks is also new.

“The new LED lamps with crystal-look tail lamps stand out at the rear. They look like jewels and ensure a characteri­stic design day and night. A tail lamp light show that plays when the vehicle is unlocked and locked as well as three horizontal pairs of fibre optics are also new.

“The new S- Class has touchsensi­tive Touch Control buttons on the steering wheel, which respond to swiping motions like the screen of a smartphone. The operation of Distronic and cruise control directly on the steering wheel is another new feature,” added the press release.
