Recipients reminded to use MRP grants for development
I will hand out grants from time to time to all the kampungs and longhouses in the constituency to help spur more development for the people.
MIRI: Associations and organisations in Bekenu constituency are called to make use of government grants they have received wisely for the development and progress of their villages and longhouses.
Assistant Minister of Women, Family and Early Childhood Development Rosey Yunus said this is to ensure that the allocations meet their objective of providing rural people with facilities and utilities that they need.
“I will hand out grants from time to time to all the villagers and longhouses in the constituency to help spur more development for the people,” she said when presenting government grants to the recipients at her service centre in Bekenu yesterday.
A total of 34 associations and organisations from Bekenu and Niah received Minor Rural Project ( MRP) grants totalling RM767,000 during the ceremony.

The recipients were village security and development committees (JKKK), women bureaus, associations, organisations and houses of worship.
Rosey, who is also the state assemblywoman for Bekenu, reminded the recipients to always work with the government of the day for more development in their areas.
According to her, the government was always ready to bring development to the rural areas through its Rural Transformation Programme (RTP).
She advised villages and longhouses yet to receive their grants to list out their priority before submitting their applications for any projects in their areas with government grants.
At the same time, she urged the people of Bekenu to continue giving their undivided support to Sarawak government under Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.
