Kenyalang Strongman challenge to heat up Sibu International BASE Jump 2018
SIBU: The Sibu Resident’s Office and Sibu Division Bodybuilding and Weightlifting Association ( SDBWA) are collaborating with Malaysia Strongman Association (Sarawak) in organising the ‘Mr Kenyalang Strongman Competition’ this year.
The event is set to take place at Sibu Town Square Phase II, this Sept 15 – running from 10am to 6pm that day.
According to Malaysia Strongman Association Sarawak chairman ASP Ricky Poh, this competition, the first of its kind here is held as part of the activities to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Sibu International BASE Jump from Sept 12 to 23 this year.
“The ‘Mr Kenyalang Strongman’ is divided into three categories – Category A ( 90kg and Below), Category B (90kg and Above), and Category C (Open) which is open to those from outside Sarawak.
“Those aged 18 years old and above are eligible to take part,” he said during a media conference at SDBWA office in the civic centre here on Saturday evening, where Sibu Resident’s Office representative Awang Mohd Nizam Awang Ali Bohan, SDBWA president Chia Soon Cheong and Malaysia Strongman Association ( Sarawak) secretary Lily Anem were also present.
Poh said for each category, every contestant must undergo five challenges – the ‘Car DeadLift’, the ‘Giant Tyre Flip’, the ‘Farmer’s Walk (with weights), the ‘ Truck Pull’ and the ‘Weight Plates Move’.
Entry fee for each category is RM50 per person.

The grand prize for each Category A and B is RM2,000, while the first and second runner-up will receive RM1,500 and RM1,000, respectively.
Winner of the Open category will pocket RM1,000, while those placing second and third will be given RM500 and RM300, respectively.
