KAPIT: Sixty students were presented with education incentives for performing well in their studies and public examinations by Tai San Ten Association here.

A total of RM14,520 was handed out to the students to recognise their achievements and to encourage them to keep doing well.

The presentation of incentives was part of a ‘ three-in- one’ ceremony held at the Civic Centre here on Saturday, which also saw the installation of the association’s new office bearers for the term 20182019, as well as celebration to mark the Mooncake Festival.

In congratulating the incentive recipients, association chairman Kong Siau Kui said the increasing number of recipients each year is proof that parents and students in Kapit place emphasis on education.

“One of the association’s objectives is to promote quality education because we believe investment in education is the most worthy investment in human capital.

“We are very pleased the number of students eligible to receive the cash incentives keeps on increasing.

“We hope they continue to study hard in school and go on to university before returning to contribute to society,” he said.

On the Mooncake Festival celebration, Kong said the association marks the occasion each year by inviting all its members to join the celebration as a way of promoting friendship and understanding amongst each other.

Association permanent adviser Pemanca Yong Thu Fook, Kapit Chinese Chamber of Commerce chairman Ling Hang Ping, Penghulu Sia Shui Poh, Penghulu Wong Kie Ing and Kapitan Yiap Yii Hoo were among the 400 guests at the gathering.
