Abd Karim tells SUPP to be patient
KUCHING: Sarawak United People’s Party ( SUPP) has been told to be patient and pursue its struggles under Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).
The advice came from Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu ( PBB) vice president Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.
“Show that you can win over the urban seats and your present state seats instead of ‘ venturing’ too far with your ten pointers,” said the Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports when commenting on SUPP’s 10-point understanding it adopted during its Annual Delegates Conference (ADC) on Sunday.
The 10- point understanding adopted by SUPP is just an internal understanding within SUPP and was never raised by SUPP with its partners in GPS when they decided to form the coalition of state-based parties.
“If SUPP feels that GPS is not the right platform for their struggle in Sarawak, they can opt to leave or disassociate themselves from GPS. PBB wants honest partners in their struggle for the state,” said Abdul Karim, who is the Asajaya assemblyman.
He stressed that it is pointless for SUPP to ask for the post of chief minister, deputy chief minister, ministers and other important state government posts if they on their own could not even deliver the seats allocated to them during state and parliamentary elections.
“It is pointless for SUPP to dictate and request for post of CM, DCM, ministers and other governmental posts.
“You ( SUPP) have lost all your Parliament allocated seats except Serian where all three state seats in that constituency are held by PBB and thus without PBB’s help you ( SUPP) might end up without any MP. Learn to appreciate,” he told SUPP.
GPS is still pending registration and everything now rest with the Registrar of Societies, added Abdul Karim.
