DAP Sarawak in close ties with ministry on education — Ling
MIRI: DAP Sarawak is working closely with the Ministry of Education in tackling issues and facilitating better coordination in matters related to education in Sarawak.
Its secretary Alan Ling Sie Kiong, who is also Pakatan Harapan (PH) Sarawak secretary, said the new federal government is trying its best to optimise limited resources to fulfi l the needs and meet new demands.
“The ministry is concerned with dilapidated schools in the state and it is believed in the upcoming budget session more details on repairing allocation will be announced by the Finance Minister,” he said.
He was asked by The Borneo Post on the recent courtesy call by Sarawak DAP assemblymen on Deputy Minister of Education Teo Nie Ching on Wednesday, where he presented the redevelopment plan of SK North in Miri for her attention.
“I was presented the redevelopment plan by the school at their 60th anniversary celebration on Aug 11, and I delivered it yesterday,” he said.
Ling, who is former Piasau assemblyman, said various issues were discussed and he expected better coordination between DAP Sarawak and the ministry on matters related to education.
He conceded that the new federal government was facing budget constraints owing to the huge debts incurred by the previous government.
Ling, however, pointed out that as education is the most important element in human capital building, the federal government will try its best to optimise limited resources to address the issues.
