Tech guru, body language expert among speakers at TriBE 2018
KUCHING: Sarawak’s first conference for Business Events, the Business Events Tribal Meet ( TriBE 2018) will kick off with two keynote sessions featuring tech guru Corbin Ball ( from Canada) and body language expert Christian Chua ( from Singapore) on Aug 24 at Pullman Hotel here.
This will be followed by a fireside chat with panellists from global Business Events authorities namely the International Congress and Convention Associations–ICCA (the Netherlands), International Association of Professional Congress Organisers–IAPCO (Switzerland), Professional Convention Management Association–PCMA (USA) and the Union of International Associations–UIA ( Belgium).
An initiative of the Sarawak Convention Bureau, chief operating officer ( COO) Amelia Roziman highlighted in a publicity release yesterday that the value of knowledge transfer is an important yield of Business Events.
“The right knowledge translates to new tools, strategies and models to help this sector stay competitive, and most importantly, relevant as we undergo a digital economic transformation.
“We have achieved this rare feat of assembling the world’s leading Business Events experts in tech, body language, and associations’ heavyweights – represented by their senior officials in a second tier destination like Sarawak,” she said.
Ball, who will be delivering on transforming the future of Business Events, echoed Amelia.
“Forarelativelysmallconvention bureau in an exotic location to pull together an important international conference with multiple industry association participation is a significant task.
The programme looks excellent and I very much look forward to attending and speaking at this event,” he said.
“This should give the region great visibility and I hope that it will be the first of many such events to come,” added Ball, who is also a five-time appointee for 25 Most Influential People in the Meetings Industry.
Renowned body language expert Christian Chua will be delivering a keynote on the future of face-to-face meetings in a digital era.
“Artificial Intelligence is an unstoppable disruption and it is fantastic that these issues will be raised and preparing individuals and organisations for this wave,” he said.
“It is also very objective to invite a speaker to talk about how humans can remain relevant!” he added.
To follow, the fireside chat, which is a deep- dive session into the best-kept trade secrets and insights of Business Events, will be represented by ICCA Asia Pacific regional director Noor Ahmad Hamid, IAPCO president Mathias Posch, regional business director of PCMA from their Incentive Conference & Event Society AsiaPacific Antonio Codinach as well as roundtable coordinator of UIA Nancy Carfrae.
Both keynote session and the fireside chat make up TriBE 2018’s educational element known as the TriBE XChange.
The one-day conference will also debut the BESarawak Alliance and the 9th Anak Sarawak Award in the afternoon.
