Seven register for i-Suri on first day

-

MIRI: Only seven persons registered for the Caruman Sukarela Insentif Suri (i- Suri) at the Employees Provident Fund ( EPF) office here on the first day of registration yesterday.

EPF Miri head Nellie Unyang Deng said about 50 people came to the centre but only seven were eligible to apply.

“The seven have successfully registered for the i- Suri today,” she said.

When asked whether they had any data on the number of individuals listed in the National Database on Poverty ( eKasih), Nellie said they would collaborate with the district office to identify the target group so as to get them to register.

She said iSuri is a very good move by the government and that everyone eligible for it should register and enjoy the benefits.

“For me personally, nothing good comes easy. This is like ‘seed’ money. For everything you plant, you will reap the harvest.

“For every RM5 contributed to their EPF i- Suri, the government will add RM40. There is nothing to lose,” she added.

Housewives, widows, single mothers and single women whose profiles are listed in the eKasih can register for i- Suri and contribute a minimum of RM5 on a monthly basis or RM60 in lump sum into their retirement savings accounts, to be eligible to receive the government incentive of RM40 per month, which will be deposited into their EPF accounts.
