Bukit Goram rep latest to assist schoolgirl Nisia

-

KAPIT: Financial aid continues to pour in for SMK Selirik student Nisia Jua Ngabong to help ease her family’s burden – this time from Bukit Goram assemblyman Jefferson Jamit.

His personal assistant Cochan Amos recently visited the Form 1 student at her school to hand over a personal contribution from the elected representative.

“Coming from a poor family is no reason to stop schooling. There are various forms of assistance available, whether from the Education Ministry, elected representatives, associations or private individuals.

“After reading of her plight in The Borneo Post and also on social media, I instructed my assistant to visit Nisia to see to her needs,” said Jamit when contacted yesterday.

Nisia, from Rumah Seliong in Nanga Enchermin near here, obtained 5As and 1B in last year’s Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) but missed almost eight months of schooling due to poverty.

After her plight came to light, many local organisations such as Kapit Division 4x4 Group, Kapit Division Big Bikers Association, Sarawak Dayak National Union ( SDNU) and individuals began raising funds to help her continue her secondary-level education.

Two days ago, Pelagus assemblyman Wilson Nyabong dropped by SMK Selirik to meet Nisia and hand over a personal donation to her.
